!!ATTENTION Oakland Borough Residents – Update 9/18/2024!!

This message is from the Oakland Borough Water Authority. Please be advised that we are currently experiencing a break on 2nd Avenue, and we are working it. In the meantime, we advise you to boil all your water to be consumed. Please conserve water until further notice.

!!ATTENTION Oakland Borough Residents!!

The water tank of the Oakland Borough Water Authority (OBWA) will be going through a refurbish process starting Monday, September 16, 2024. OBWA does not expect the tank to be back up to full capacity until somewhere around September 30, 2024. We ask that our residents conserve water during this period. If you have any questions, call the office at (570) 396-1111.

Thank you,

Roger Holleran

Chairman

Water payments from residents are billed quarterly for the previous quarter. Invoices are issued on the first of January, April, July and October. Payment terms are Net/30days. Should payments not be received within this time frame, the property is subject to its water being shut off without further notice. A fee of $75.00 will be accessed for the water to be turned back on. This $75 will have to be paid in advance.

If a water leak has been determined to be on the customers side of the shut off, the owner has 72 hours based on the date the owner was notified, to make plans to have this repaired.  Call the Water Authority with your confirmed contracted plans, so we coordinate the shut off requirement, phone 570-396-1111.  A turn on fee of $75.00 will be added to your bill.  The owner must hire a licensed contractor to dig and repair piping.  Copper piping specs are:  ¾ inch copper tube size, 200 psi rated piping connected to the curb box side.  The line must be connected by an approved licensed plumber/contractor.  In the event that you do not contact us, we will be forced to shut your water off, after three business days, at close of business, 3 pm to prevent the costly loss of water to the Authority.
